From Thursday until Sunday, Gouveia hosts the IVth National Competition “Cities of Wine”, where wines from all over the country will be evaluated.
The initiative will involve a panel of 30 judges, who will evaluate wines from municipalities across the country. The jury will be chaired by António Ventura, current president of the Portuguese Enology Association and consultant at Provintage. In addition to the competition, there will also be an interpretative walk called “A Biodiversidade das Vinhas do Dão – Serra da Estrela”, on Saturday, at Quinta da Espinhosa, in Vila Nova de Tazem. The activity is free, but limited to 15 participants, «so those interested must formalize their registration, by May 9th, using the electronic form», says the municipality of Gouveense. On the same day, at 1 pm, the public will also be able to taste “an Alambicada harmonized with Dão – Serra da Estrela nectars” at the Adega Cooperativa in Vila Nova de Tazem. The “Wine Cities” competition is a joint organization of the Association of Portuguese Wine Municipalities (AMPV) and the Association of Wine Routes of Portugal (ARVP), with the support of the Câmara de Gouveia and the Wine in Moderation program, also counting with the sponsorship of the Presidency of the Republic.
