“European Funds are not invisible” is the motto of the communication campaign that will be launched tomorrow, May 9th, Europe Day, by the Center Regional Program Management Authority (Centro2030). This campaign’s main objective is to raise awareness among citizens about thousands of projects financed by European funds that are part of our daily lives, highlighting their importance for the economic and social development of the Central region.

Citizens are encouraged to discover projects financed by the European Union around them, which can be found everywhere: in the health center, in the hospital, at school, at the university, in the park, in a hotel, in a company, in a museum or in a square next to his house.

Through the website www.centro2030.pt/osfundoseuropeusnãosãoinvisiveis, citizens can see, in a simple way, some of the projects financed by European funds in the Central region, in the last seven years, in the eight sub-regions: Coimbra, Aveiro, Leiria, Beira Baixa, Beiras and Serra da Estrela, Viseu Dão-lafões, Oeste and Médio Tejo.

Isabel Damasceno, president of the Central Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR Centro), considers that «it is very important to celebrate the European project, a project of peace, union, freedom and solidarity. European solidarity is present in so many moments of our day that we often don’t even notice. What we want is to raise awareness, show how European funds are visible and how they contribute to improving the quality of life for all of us».

Open days

Projects financed by European funds are open to citizens

As part of this campaign, several projects financed by European funds will open their doors in the Central region. Throughout the month of May, citizens are invited to discover, through guided tours, projects linked to culture and cultural heritage that have been reclassified through European funds. Until the end of the year, new open days will be promoted in other areas of activity of the Centro2030 Program. Visits to projects include the participation of the Central 2030 Program Steering Committee.
