The Shakedown in Baltar, in the municipality of Paredes, kicked off this Thursday, May 9th, the Rally de Portugal, which runs until May 12th.
In an interview with the newspaper A VERDADE, Renato Almeida, councilor responsible for Sports at the Paredes City Council, says that expectations are “very positive” and that, as in previous years, the Portuguese Rally in Paredes is “a success. In recent years, we have made a large investment in holding this event.”
The venue was filled with around 7500 people, leaving the Kartódromo de Baltar “completely packed”. In addition to the usual Shakedown, the rally will return to the municipality of Paredes on Saturday, May 11, for two more visits to the territory, with one stage counting towards the World Championship.
Tickets take place at 11:35am and 6:05pm and expectations are “the best. It is the first time that we are organizing this day at this time of day, so we hope to have a full Kartódromo with lots of people watching from the mountains”.
In addition to the sporting component, the Sports councilor also adds that these events allow “boost the local economy. We managed to get many people to travel to Paredes, get to know our territory, and frequent our restaurants, shops and accommodation.”
To conclude, Renato Almeida highlighted that the partnership with ACP (Automóvel Club de Portugal), in organizing the Rally de Portugal, is “to keep. We will continue to invest in this great event.”
