“Organized group”. Foreigner arrested for cocaine trafficking in Portugal

UA 57-year-old man of foreign nationality, residing in Portugal, was arrested on strong suspicions of cocaine trafficking in Lisbon.

The arrest “took place within the scope of an investigation carried out by the DCIAP, which has been ongoing for around two years”, in cooperation with international authorities, which is investigating “the activities of a organized criminal group, suspected of introducing into national territory, by air, large quantities of cocaine from Latin America and the Caribbean” to be distributed in Europe, highlights the Judiciary Police (PJ) in a statement.

Following the investigation, the PJ has already detected and seized “around 810 thousand individual doses of cocaine transported in unattended suitcases” at Humberto Delgado Airport, in Lisbon.

The individual was subject to preventive detention after being present for the first judicial interrogation.
