Portalegre City Council has an extensive recovery and repaving plan underway for several roads and paths in all parishes of the municipality, in an investment worth around one million euros.
The first phase of this plan should start soon, involves an investment of €428,198.31 and includes the repaving and maintenance and conservation work on EM 517 and EM517-2, on the section between Pedra Basta and Porto da Boga, on the Caminho Municipal 1031, Parish of Ribeira de Nisa and Carreiras, Beco da Escola Primária and Beco António Pereira, in the Parish of Urra.
This work will take 90 days to complete and will be carried out by the company URBIGAV, with which the Municipality signed the consignment notice this week.
The second phase of this plan is still up for public tender for the amount of €499,618.90 (+VAT), with proposals being able to be submitted by May 21st.
At issue are resurfacing and maintenance work on the following roads: Travessa do Roluto and Rua do Roluto (Fortios); Rua Dr. Alexandre Carvalho Costa (Alagoa), Access Path to Monte Rei (Reguengo and S. Julião); Access Path to Briando (Reguengo and S. Julião); Rua Eng. Domingos Batista Tavares (Reguengo and S. Julião), Rua de S. Gregório Magno (Reguengo and S. Julião), Rua de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios (Reguengo and S. Julião); Rua Pedro Maria Gaio (Alegrete); Praceta João Carlos Morgado (Alegrete), EM522-2 (between Reguengo and Alegrete); Caminho da Mata (Fortios); Estrada de S. Bento – EM1146 (Ribeira de Nisa and Carreiras); Caminho dos Matinhos – Meteorological Bulletin (Neighborhood of Atalaião); and Rua Coronel Jorge Velez Caroço (Bairro dos Assentos).
According to the Municipality, «these interventions, taking place throughout the municipality, are justified by the need to guarantee circulation conditions on roads that present a high state of degradation and their main objective is to improve safety, daily living populations and the qualification of the territory».
Works to advance
Portalegre City Council has a number of projects in its portfolio, some of which are still out for public tender and others that will start soon.
This is the case with the Ribeira de Nisa Motorhome Service Area, whose work has been awarded and is expected to start very soon. This is an investment of around 150 thousand euros.
Still in the public tender phase, for a value of 660 thousand euros, is the first phase of the recovery of a total of 108 homes owned by the Municipality. The competition is open until the 22nd of this month
The competition also includes the renovation and signage of the helipad (€152,634.00), the work to expand the Municipal Kennel and Cattery (€52,967.00), or the repair of sidewalks (€20,100.00).
