The Telescope Concentration in Moimenta da Beira will set a new record with 146 telescopes confirmed at the event taking place this weekend.
The organization also has 272 confirmed participants, of which 217 come from outside Moimenta da Beira.
The number includes people from all regions of the country, from Minho to the Algarve, including the Azores, where Portuguese people arrive for the first time from the islands of São Miguel and Terceira. Another Portuguese will arrive from Amsterdam, in the Netherlands.
The national participants are joined by another 37 coming from various areas of Spain and the south of France. Previously, 164 telescopes and 315 participants were pre-registered.
This year, the Telescope Concentration has the largest edition ever, starting this Friday (May 10th) and ending on Sunday (12th) in the municipality.
Over the three days, the Telescope Concentration offers documentaries, lectures, an Iberian exchange, musical moments, a cultural visit and solar and night observations of space open to the community.
Now internationalized, the event will take place simultaneously with the third European Astronomical Telescope Meeting promoted by the Astronomical Association of Ara de Los Olmos, from Spain.
The initiative has the support of the Moimenta da Beira Chamber, the Moimenta da Beira and Cabaços Parish Councils, the São Torcato Commission and the Parents’ Association of the Moimenta da Beira School Group.
