The children’s saga Harry Potter, by JK Rowling, will have an audiobook version with more than 100 actors involved in the production. There will be seven books, distributed exclusively by Audible, an Amazon platform that arrived in Brazil last year, in a partnership with Pottermore Publishing, the publisher responsible for the saga worldwide.
Initially, the launch should take place at the end of 2025. The promise is that the audio productions “will bring these iconic stories to life as never heard before”. The intention, according to the organizers, is to provide an immersive experience through high-quality sound design, soundtrack, character voices and capturing real-world sounds.
The wizarding world will also get a series, also with seven seasons, on streaming. For now, the calculation is that it could be ready in mid-2026, and will debut on the Max platform (formerly HBO Max).
A growing format in literature, the audiobook (or audiobook) has expanded its presence and gained more and more followers. There is already an audiobook version of the saga, narrated in English by actors Stephen Fry and Jim Dale. Published in 1999, this version has reached 1.4 billion hours of playback across the planet since it was released on Audible in 2015. It will continue to be available on digital platforms.
As a precedent, the film numbers are also significant: the eight titles derived from JK Rowling’s books grossed US$7.7 billion, or R$43 billion. (Estadão Conteúdo)
