“Unmasked” Kevin Spacey reacts ironically to documentary purchased by HBO Max – Series

A documentary about accusations of sexual crimes against actor Kevin Spacey was purchased by HBO Max, with the target reacting with a highly ironic statement.

No release date has yet been announced on the major Warner Brothers platform, “Spacey Unmasked” (“Spacey unmasked”, in literal translation) is, in origin, a documentary commissioned by Channel 4 and will be shown in Great Britain in two parts on 6 and May 7th.

It is worth remembering that the career of the two-time Oscar winner, currently 64 years old, imploded due to several accusations of sexual crimes, in the wake of the MeToo movement in 2017.

Spacey denied all accusations and was found innocent in two separate trials in New York and London, in 2022 and 2023. He also won a civil lawsuit filed by American actor Anthony Rapp in October 2022 that accused him of a sexual assault that allegedly occurred. in 1986 and other complaints never reached trial because they were withdrawn by the alleged victims or by decision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

“’Spacey Unmasked’ is a forensic look at a man who was once one of the most admired and respected actors in the world. Featuring never-before-seen interviews and archive footage, the series examines his life from childhood to early success on Broadway and subsequent meteoric rise to stardom. Kevin Spacey’s spectacular fall from grace occurred amid allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior.

He adds: “In 2023, Spacey was acquitted of sexual crimes against four men in a trial in the United Kingdom. This two-part series will investigate Spacey’s conduct and talk to several men unconnected to the case about his experiences with Kevin Spacey, almost all of them doing so for the first time.”

The actor reacted ironically to the documentary.

“I’m honored to star in my first film with Warner Brothers in many years. I hope the Academy [dos Óscares] take note of some of the excellent performances from the lesser-known cast,” he said in a statement sent to Variety magazine.
