Actor doesn’t know if he will return to play the God of Thunder in theaters.

Completed last year, Phase 4 of Marvel Studios is one of the least loved by the company’s regular fans. While it has welcomed major productions and experimentation, with the addition of the series to the MCU, there are some projects that have received negative receptions from all sides. With the lowest approval in Rotten Tomatoesat 63%, Thor: Love and Thunder is one of these films.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Chris Hemsworth revealed that he agrees with some of the criticism. For him, the God of Thunder’s fourth solo film presented a “very silly” version of the character. “I got caught up in the improvisation and the madness and became a parody of myself,” Hemsworth told the outlet “I Missed the Point”

In less than 3 minutes, Deadpool & Wolverine has already broken a record of 33 films and 11 series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

According to the actor, despite being grateful for his career at Casa das Ideias, he always felt out of place compared to others. “Sometimes I felt like a team security guard,” Hemsworth said.

“I would read everyone’s lines and say, ‘Oh, they have so much cooler stuff. They are having more fun. What is my character doing? It was always about, ‘You’ve got the wig on. You have the muscles. You have the fantasy. Where is the lighting? Yes, I’m part of this big thing, but I’m probably pretty replaceable.”

Even with the feeling of irrelevance for Marvel’s main team in theaters (for now), Robert Downey Jr., Iron Man’s interpreter, disagrees with Chris in this sense:

“First of all, Thor as a character was very complicated to adapt to – a lot of implied limitations – but he and Ken Branagh figured out how to transcend, to make him somehow relatable but god-like. Hemsworth is, in my opinion, the most complex psyche of all of us Avengers. He has intelligence and seriousness, but also a lot of moderation, fire and kindness.”

Regarding the future, Thor 5 seems somewhat “unpredictable”. “If the public wants to see it and if there is something that we believe will be exciting and fun, great. I loved being able to reinvent this character a few times,” he said. “I don’t have the answer yet, but I’d love to try [descobrir] how can we do this again and keep it a little unpredictable.”

About to be launched in a different role than usual, with Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the actor seems excited to start a new phase of his career. Speaking of this opportunity, the artist relates the casting to the roles played under the direction of Ron Howard in Rush – No Limite da Emoção and In the Heart of the Sea. “Ron [Howard] It took me out of that typographic space of the muscular, action guy and let me play a character with complications and darkness,” said Hemsworth. “I remember thinking at the time, ‘Oh, this is going to change everything.’”

The four Thor films are available in the Disney+ catalog. Furiosa hits theaters on May 23.
