Kill Bill – Volume 2 will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year. Would it be the perfect occasion to see the real version of the film, longer and bloodier?

For fans of bloodthirsty action films, the world of streaming offers many fantastic releases, but sometimes we also miss the classics. Fortunately, the offer of titles to watch online also meets this requirement and has a treat in store for Quentin Tarantino’s followers.

Tarantino’s action epic, Kill Bill, can currently be seen on Telecine and consists of two parts: Kill Bill – Volume 1 and Kill Bill – Volume 2. On the one hand, this is great for fans of this ingenious and mind-blowing martial arts double-pack. But on the other hand, it seems to be a sign that we’ll never see the real version of the film.

In Kill Bill, Uma Thurman goes on an epic quest for revenge around the world

Your wedding day should be the happiest day of your life. But the Bride (Uma Thurman) simply doesn’t have a promising future. The team of assassins to which she belonged – and which bears the illustrious name of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad – appears at the altar. What follows is not for the faint of heart.

The Bride is left to bleed to death on the church floor. But destiny is not finished with her yet. A few years later, she wakes up from a coma. She survived the attack by the skin of her teeth and now she must fight to regain her former strength and settle the score. The Bride swears bloody revenge and mobilizes all her fighting skills to achieve it.

Five names are on their hit list. Vernita Green (Vivica A. Fox) and Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah) and O-Ren Ishii (Lucy Liu). Plus, Budd (Michael Madsen) and the head of the Deadly Vipers: Bill (David Carradine). But on her journey, the Bride not only encounters old demons, but also new issues.

Kill Bill is still waiting for the release of its best version

In Tarantino’s eyes, Kill Bill is not a two-part film, but rather one film. A single film, much longer (even longer than the current 237 minutes), which ended up being divided for reasons of distribution and cinematic preferences. And from which many things were cut, such as a fight scene between Bill and famous martial arts star Michael Jai White.

In terms of brutality, the current version is also a tamer version of the original plan. The true, longer and completely bloody version of Kill Bill is titled The Whole Bloody Affair and never saw the light of day beyond a few test screenings.

A few years ago, Tarantino released his extended version of The Hateful Eight as a miniseries in collaboration with Netflix. Some media outlets, including Screen Rant, considered this a sign of life for The Whole Bloody Affair. After all, he could also build the Kill Bill story as a series and add the missing parts.

But nothing has happened since then. No announcements from Tarantino or Netflix about Kill Bill. However, part 2 will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year. A nice and round anniversary that would be the perfect occasion for a new release. But as we all know, hope dies last. Like the Bride, she is resilient (at least for now).
