The highly anticipated “Deadpool & Wolverine” will be the 34th film in an increasingly vast Marvel Cinematic Universe, which continues through the series.

In addition to being the sequel to “Deadpool” (2016) and “Deadpool 2” (2018) starring Ryan Reynolds, who were not part of the Universe, this is also the first time that the characters meet on the big screen since the very evil received “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” (2009). And in the case of Hugh Jackman as the sharp-clawed mutant, the story goes back even further, starting with the first “X-Men” (2000).

But director Shawn Levy guarantees that there’s no need to do your ‘homework’ before seeing his film, which hits theaters on July 25th: it’s for both fans and those who may know almost nothing about Marvel ( or cinema in the last 25 years).

“I was a good student at school. I will do my homework as an adult. But I definitely have no intention of doing homework when I go to the movies,” he recently told the Associated Press.

“I certainly made this film with a healthy respect and gratitude for the fanatical fan base that has maximum fluency in the mythology and lore of these characters and this world. But I didn’t want to assume that. This film was made for entertainment, without the obligation to be prepared with prior research”, he reinforced.

As the trailers have already shown, Levy recalls that the characters “were built for great conflicts between them because they are very different individually”, a dynamic that he says creates very interesting stories, with “Midnight Escape” (1988) among the best examples ), “48 Hours” (1982) and “Antes Só que Mal Accompanied” (1987).

“But ultimately, it’s also about something more and that’s what the public will see,” he added, without wanting to lift the veil on the secrecy surrounding the story, including speculation about the participation of… Taylor Swift.

“The rumors surrounding this film are overwhelming. It was made for the delight of viewers. I think they will have a lot of fun”, he promised.
