The physical format is still very much alive! These are the new films that have been released on Blu-Ray with very special editions.

The physical format is still appreciated by many collectors who value the various spectacular physical editions. The digital world has shaken the world of collecting but has not put an end to interest.

Although digital versions are more convenient (they don’t take up space) and, sometimes, are cheaper, There is always a physical version that we have our eye on.

For example, in the gaming world, with “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2”, players were able to opt for an incredible edition, which features a small figurine with the protagonists – Peter Parker, Miles Morales and Venom. Or “LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga” which featured a very rare Luke Skywalker minifigure.

In the same position are the films, with metal boxes that should be in the collections of cinephiles. With that in mind, we’re going to tell you the big Blu-Ray releases in May.

STOP MAKING SENSE

Now available at producer A24’s online store, “Stop Making Sense”, by Jonathan Demme (“The Silence of the Lambs”), recorded the visceral energy of the North American band Talking Heads during a concert at the Hollywood Pantages Theater in 1983, where the hits “Psycho Killer“, “Take Me to the River” and “Once in a Lifetime”. Among the various concert films, “Stop Making Sense” is considered one of the best. On the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes it received a 97% rating.

The film’s 40th anniversary special edition includes two extended cuts of the film and features a 64-page booklet with never-before-seen photos, archival production documents and more. Extras include a commentary track by Demme from 1999, a 25-minute documentary on the making of the film, VHS rehearsal footage of vocalist David Byrne and the bonus tracks “Cities” and “Big Business/I Zimbra”.


DUNE: PART TWO

In Denis Villeneuve’s incredible adaptation of Frank Herbert’s work we find a cast with several renowned actors, including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Stellan Skarsgård, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Jason Mamoa, Christopher Walker, among many others. “Dune: Part Two” has so far been the most profitable film of 2024, with around $705 million at the box office. After leaving cinemas, the film hits shelves with a Blu-Ray version, on May 14th.

Available on Blu-ray, 4K UHD and SteelBook 4K UHD, “Dune: Part Two” includes special extras such as “Chakobsa Training”, “Creating The Fremen World”, “Finding The Worlds Of Dune”, “Buzz Around The New ‘Thopter”, “Worm-Riding”, “Becoming Feyd”, “A New Set Of Threads” and “Deeper Into The Desert: The Sounds Of Dune.”


BOB MARLEY: ONE LIVE

It was a symbol of peace, especially in Jamaica, Robert Nesta Marley, better known as Bob Marley, brought reggae to the masses and spread its message around the world. The themes “One Love”, “Stir It Up”, “Redemption Song”, “Could You Be Loved”, “Get Up, Stand Up”, among others, remained forever in people’s memories. The biopic “Bob Marley: One Love”, supervised by his son Ziggy Marley, tells the story of the legendary musician – from before success, to war and his premature death. Despite his short life, much remains to be told. From May 28th you will have more content about the life of this legend.

The 4K UHD version includes more than 50 minutes of never-before-seen footage that didn’t make it into the film. Extras include “Becoming Bob Marley”, “The Story: Bringing Bob Marley’s Story To Life”, “The Cast”, “On Location: Jamaica And England” and “The Band”, as well as eight extended and/or deleted scenes from the film.
