Oppenheiner director thinks The Dark Knight Rises is underrated.

Christopher Nolan is the closest thing currently available to a famous director. The truth is that it has been like this for years, but the enormous success of a film like Oppenheimer has elevated it even further. Of course, not all of his films are equally well-regarded, with a certain consensus that Batman-The Dark Knight Rises is one of his least appreciated works.

“Don’t be a coward, let’s do this”: This is how Christopher Nolan was convinced to direct Batman – The Dark Knight

However, Nolan in no way agrees with the relative bad reputation that the third part of his Batman trilogy has. In fact, the filmmaker comments the following about her in the book “The Nolan Variations: The Movies, Mysteries, and Marvels of Christopher Nolan”:

I don’t have a favorite, but I think The Dark Knight Rises is an underrated film. There are things we did in this film that are quite subversive and shocking.

Nolan himself confessed at the time of its release that he was inspired by the masterpiece of literature written by Charles Dickens, “A Tale of Two Cities”, although its origin was his brother Jonathan Nolan. In fact, the Interstellar filmmaker hadn’t read Dickens’ novel until Jonathan recommended it after giving him an early draft of the script. And he ended up freaking out.

In fact, it is not the first time that Nolan has claimed one of his films, as at the time he highlighted that Insomnia was the most underrated work of his career and that he was “very proud” of the thriller starring Al Pacino and Robin Williams.
