The actor will share the spotlight with Jodie Comer in director Michael Sarnoski’s new film.

Hugh Jackman returns, after seven years, to bring his most remembered character to life. The actor returns to take on the role of Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine, the third film about the mercenary played by Ryan Reynolds. However, after removing his claws again, Jackman already has a new project on his hands.

According to Deadline, Jackman and Jodie Comer will star The Death of Robin Hood, a dark new version of the famous character. The film follows the protagonist facing his past after a life full of crimes and murders. Robin Hood is seriously injured, worn down by battle and in the hands of a mysterious woman who offers him salvation.

If everything goes as planned, the production of The Death of Robin Hood will begin in February 2025 and will feature Michael Sarnoski as director. The filmmaker has already been behind the camera on titles such as PIG – The Revenge, with Nicolas Cage, and A Quiet Place: Day One, a spin-off of the saga created by John Krasinski.

“It was an incredible opportunity to reinvent and innovate the story we all know of Robin Hood,” Sarnoski said of the project. “Securing the perfect cast to bring the script to the screen was essential. I couldn’t be more excited and confident in Hugh and Jodie to bring this story to life in a powerful and meaningful way.”

Meanwhile, Hugh Jackman returns as Marvel’s mythical mutant on July 25. The third installment of Wade Wilson’s story also marks the character’s first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following Disney’s purchase of 20th Century Studios.
