The conflict between animals and humans continues in “Planet of the Apes: The Reign”, a new episode of the saga that premieres this Thursday (09) in Boa Vista cinemas.
The film saga is based on the book of the same name, written by Pierre Boulle, from 1968. The original literary work tells the story of two scientists, who managed to travel in a spaceship to a planet similar to Earth and there met an advanced species of monkeys and chimpanzees. In the same year as the book’s release, the film “Planet of the Apes” was released, which became a classic. Then, several other films based on the story were released in the 70s and 2000s.
More recently, since 2011, a new film saga has been released that tells the story of how monkeys became intelligent and came to lead the planet. The franchise includes the films “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” (2011), “Confrontation of the Planet of the Apes” (2014), “War for the Planet of the Apes” (2017) and more recently now with the release of the “Planet of the Apes: Reign”.
In the film that premiered this Thursday in Boa Vista, the story takes place many years after the events of the last film. Ape societies grew and evolved, working with technology. Many no longer remember the relationships between people and animals. One of them, called Proximus Cesar, has the goal of becoming king, hunting and enslaving humanity.
The number of humans has already reduced. Nowadays, they are considered as ferocious animals, living in a primitive way in forests and in secret, without being able to communicate. Until a young monkey named Noa meets an intelligent girl and starts to question her past.
