Brazilian series of the franchise is in development

Production will be focused on young audiences.

According to Deadline, the Sony Pictures Television is developing a new series of The Panthers which will take place in Brazil. The project will feature the collaboration of the actress and screenwriter Suzana Piresknown for her work in Rising Sun It is Fine Print.

The series will be focused on a younger audience, starring three pre-teens who are chosen because of their unique abilities to be part of a spy school: the Panthers Academy. Each episode will bring a new crime for the girls to solve, as they have to deal with teenage dramas and school troubles.

According to Deadline, the series will bring real and relatable themes, absurd cases and many insane moments to enhance the action and comedy that Charlie’s Angels fans love so much.

Joe D’Ambrosiaa Sony executive, said:

“We are excited to have the opportunity to develop this incredible Sony production for a younger, more modern audience. We’re moving towards a narrative with intense cliffhangers, while still staying true to the series’ original premise: mystery, adventure, comedy and the empowerment of young women who have to balance homework, softball practice and being teenagers while still saving the world.”

Suzana Pires also spoke about the project:

“When Thiago Teitelroit and Sony invited me to be part of this adaptation of Charlie’s Angels in Brazil, I could only say yes. We will deliver elaborate espionage plots and lots of adventure with the fundamental touch of comedy in a good narrative. [Será] a great work of entertainment for everyone to enjoy.”

It is worth remembering that despite having been very successful in the films starring Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Berrymore, the Charlie’s Angels franchise began in 1976 as a TV series. The most recent adaptation, starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott It is Ella Balinska It ended up failing at the box office.
