‘Limp Biskit’ plays ‘My way’ at Lolla 2024
Limp Bizkit took a trip back in time and took their old fans back to the late 1990s and early 2000s when the band was big.
The lean setlist featured their biggest hits, from “Break Stuff”, “Rollin'”, as well as “Faith”, a cover of George Michael’s song, from the guys’ first album, “Three Dollar Bill, Y’all”, by 1997.
The Samsung Stage area was so crowded that Fred Durst made a point of thanking those at the top of the hill, as soon as he finished the first song “Break stuff”.
Durst, with a white beard and cap, didn’t spare his throat to make “the party happen”.
The new metal band even has more recent work. “Still Sucks” was released in 2021 and they are expected to tour with this album soon. But they kept those already well known to the public.
“Tom Cruise is here”, he shouted from the stage to the delight of the fans. It was the signal for one of the group’s biggest hits, “Take a look around”, soundtrack to the second “Mission: Impossible” film.
Between one song and another, they still played with the crowd with recordings of tracks such as “Purple Rain”, “Pround Mary”, “Seven nation army”, “Song 2”, among others.
Durst also showed that his vocal cords were in good condition when he sang “Faith”.
“I just wanted to kiss every one of you on the face,” Durst said from the stage. “No, you don’t love me, I love you.”
“Behind blue eyes”, a cover by The Who and more introspective, was the only more contemplative moment of the performance.
They also remembered “My way”, “Nookie”, “Boiler” and even a “congratulations”, to celebrate the birthday of John Otto, the band’s drummer.
On the part of the public, there was no shortage of circles and headbanging on each of the tracks. And perhaps the feeling that the show could have had a few more minutes.
Limp Bizkit ended its participation in the festival the way it started: sound for “Break stuff”, amended with the recording of “Don’t you forget about me”.
They finally managed to have the party they wanted so much.
