OMG! THE QUEEN IS COMING RIGHT HERE! In a press conference this Monday (25), in Rio de Janeiro, Madonna confirmed the “biggest show of his career” in Brazil. With her “Celebration Tour”, the singer arrives here on May 4th, for a free and historic performance on Copacabana Beach. She has performed three other times in the country with the tours “The Girlie Show”, “Sticky & Sweet” and “MDNA Tour”, in 1993, 2008 and 2012 respectively.

No tickets will be required for the event. Entry will be on a first-come, first-serve basis and the stage will be set up in front of the Hotel Belmond Copacabana Palace. The performance will be broadcast live on TV Globo. To stay on top of “show of the century”fans can now register at the link: https://www.madonnainrio.com/.

Still in November last year, during a show on her current tour, in Cologne, Germany, Madonna announced for the first time that she would come to Brazil. The star, however, did not give any details. At the beginning of this month, the first rumors of a show on Copacabana Beach began to swirl.

Last week, a plane circled the Rio coast with an orange banner displaying the phrase “Brazil, I’m coming” (“Brazil, I’m coming”), and excited fans even more. The arrival, however, was only officially confirmed on March 22, with a video from the queen herself.

The “Celebration Tour” is a tour commemorating Madonna’s 40-year career. The series of shows was scheduled to start in July last year. Due to the star’s urgent hospitalization, however, it was postponed and only started in October. Currently, the diva is traveling through North America and should finish performing in April. The expectation is that the tour will end here in Brazil, as a farewell. And it’s going to be with someone else’s key, huh?!

Madonna in Brazil

Madonna’s debut in Brazil was with “The Girlie Show”, in 1993, which promoted the album “Erotica”. That, in fact, was the first time that the singer performed in Latin America and Oceania, with shows in Mexico, Argentina, Puerto Rico and Australia.

In December 2008, the Queen of Pop ended the first part of the “Sticky & Sweet Tour” in the country: with two shows at Morumbi and three at Maracanã. The presentations were part of the promotion of the album “Hard Candy”, the artist’s eleventh. At the time, the tour became the most profitable in history by a solo artist, breaking a record that had been set by Madonna herself with the “Confessions Tour”.

The diva brought the “MDNA Tour” to the country in 2012, with four shows. The tour promoted the album of the same name, whose era was marked by dance-pop. The shows in Brazil, according to Billboard Boxscore, brought together more than 215 thousand people and raised around US$26 million.
