The fans of Skid Row were surprised this Wednesday (27) with the news that the Swedish vocalist Erik Grönwall is leaving the band.
According to the statement shared by the group on its social networks, the decision was made by the singer with the aim of prioritizing his health.
The artist, who has been in the band since March 2022, says he faced a challenge when he hit the road while still weak six months after being treated for leukemia. In an excerpt of the message, Erick said:
I respect and understand that Skid Row is a touring band, but since I cannot prioritize my health while being in the band, I have decided it is best to step aside. I love Skid Row, I have nothing but respect for the guys in the band but I love and respect my health more.
The musician also pointed out that although he is getting “stronger and healthier every day”, his doctor indicated that he still needs more time to recover from the bone marrow transplant that was performed. He continued:
That’s why I made the difficult decision to move on. I want to thank everyone for this incredible opportunity. And I want to thank all the Skid Row fans who accepted me as the lead singer of this iconic band. Health first!
Skid Row announces new replacement vocalist
In the same statement, Skid Row praised Erik Grönwall’s contribution to the band:
We are proud of what we have created and accomplished with Erik over the past two years and wish him and his health the best.
Then, the group announced that the talented Lzzy Halevocalist of Halestorm, will provisionally take over the vocals in the band’s next four shows that are already scheduled. On her social networks, the singer declared:
I’m participating in some shows as the lead singer of Skid Row! What an honor to call them friends and a privilege to share the stage with them! Erik, I wish you all the magic in your next adventure.

Erik Grönwall was Skid Row’s sixth vocalist and joined the group after they split from ZP Theartwho had already led the DragonForce. The musician recorded the vocals for the most recent album The Gang’s All Herereleased in 2022.
