There are many metal bands that are giants in a certain country and not so much in others. This difference in public, however, usually occurs within the borders of a single nation.

This is the case of the USA, which is huge and presents stark cultural differences. This is reflected in which bands are strongest in a given region. In an interview with Gustavo Maiato, producer Milton Mendonça, from ProgPower USA, reflected on this phenomenon and talked about which bands are growing in American territory in general.

“Here in the United States, there are metal bands that attract more people in New York, as it is a stronger market, than in Texas, for example. But there are bands that do better in the South of the country. For example, Five Finger Death Punch. They’re very strong in the South and not so much up here. It takes a lot of people, but not that much. It really depends.

Now, there are bands that are growing a lot. Beast in Black and Battle Beast come to mind, which grew a lot here in the USA. They will probably be the next headliners at ProgPower USA. We’ve already had Blind Guardian, Nightwish, Sabaton and Epica. Now comes this new wave.”
