During an interview conducted by Ultimate Classic Rock, he spoke about how important singers Southside Johnny and Bruce Springsteen are to him, and the help he received during the surgery period.
“John and Bruce were not only my earliest influences, as they were great singers, songwriters and artists, but they were also a decade older than me, so they’ve been through it all. Since I was a boy and Southside produced The Rest , which was my first original band, where I was just a singer, I didn’t write any of the songs, until this newest album (‘Forever’)”, he recalled.

Bon Jovi praised his bandmates like drummer Tico Torres and keyboardist David Bryan, who care about him and motivate him to work hard. Bruce Springsteen was also remembered, as he proved to be a true friend during this difficult period of surgery.
“Bruce would pick me up. Every two weeks we would go on these long trips, during surgery, when I could barely speak, he would say, ‘I’m here for you, man. We’ll get through this.’ You see Jon Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen driving through New Jersey, you want the police to pull you over (laughs) One day we were at a traffic light, and the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) was collecting money with a bucket, and I downloaded the glass, and I had some money in my pocket and I gave it to him, and the guy saw me and said, ‘Heeei!’, and he bends over and sees Bruce, and he: ‘Wow!’, and all the VFW guys. No I can tell you how much this moves me.”

The singer’s surgery and recovery were recorded and will be shown in a four-part documentary titled “”
“Forever”, Bon Jovi’s sixteenth album, is scheduled for release on June 7th. “This record is a return to joy. From the songwriting to the recording process, this is a Bon Jovi record to turn up the volume and feel good,” said the singer.
