Courses for the elderly, K-pop presentation and more: Caixa Cultural Salvador releases schedule for April

A Caixa Cultural Salvadora space located on Rua Carlos Gomes, in the city center, released its special art education program for the month of Aprilwith a special activity alluding to Autism Awareness Day.

The agenda includes a series of activities ranging from courses aimed at digital inclusion for the elderly to K-pop (Korean Pop Music) presentations aimed at teenagers. The activities offered are all free and registration can be done on this website.

Pedagogical day: Digital inclusion

During every Friday of the month, the “Digital Inclusion for the Elderly” journey will take place, which aims to bring the target audience closer to the digital universe, with information on the tools available on cell phones and the world of the web. The classes formed will cover Google’s functionalities and understand various applications and basic functions of smartphones.

The digital inclusion day will take place on April 5th, 12th, 16th and 26th, with classes from 10:30 am to 12 pm and from 3:30 pm to 5 pm.


Storytelling: The Lonely Boy

There are many lonely boys in the world. In Brazil alone, it is estimated that there are around two million. “The lonely boy” speaks poetically about the complex and little-known world of autistic children, who do not present visible physical stigmas, but have very specific needs in order to develop.

The activity takes place on the 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th of April, from 10am to 11am.


Storytelling: Healing the Earth

Moína is a very curious girl, of indigenous origin, who loves to snuggle in her grandmother’s arms and listen to stories. She wants to understand the meaning of her life, its transformations. But one story in particular will reveal to the girl the suffering her people went through, the discoveries and wisdom of her ancestors and how they managed to heal one of their most precious assets: the Earth.

The activity takes place on the 20th, 21st, 27th and 28th of April, from 10am to 11am.


Cultural meeting: Dialogues about ASD in Education

Meeting aimed especially at educators. It aims to promote a deeper understanding of the learning process of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), while offering a space for sharing experiences and inclusive practices.

Updated information about ASD will be presented, demystifying misconceptions and promoting a more accurate understanding, in addition to exploring school inclusion strategies.

The meeting will be on April 6th, from 3pm to 4:30pm.


Writing for children

Author Luiza Meireles talks about her books that address the theme of differences and with characters full of special characteristics, who live many adventures, unravel mysteries with friends and learn to respect and value their own will. By sharing her writing experiences, still in childhood, and her relationship with the habit of reading, Luiza will demonstrate the method she created and used to write her stories with the aim of encouraging other children to also create their own stories. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the art of writing, editing and publishing a children’s book.

The activity takes place on April 7th, from 3pm to 4:30pm.


Visual Narratives: Digital Collage

Digital collage emerges as a significant artistic expression in contemporary times, driven by the integration of art with reproduction and technological means. This form of expression offers a new universe of creation, discoveries and perspectives in the field of visuality, interactions and experiences, establishing innovative connections with environments, contexts and artistic languages. Participants will be able to create visual narratives about ancestry thinking about the indigenous influence on Brazilian culture considering the different ethnicities.

The activity takes place on April 7th, from 3pm to 4:30pm.


Poetic Soiree: Paths to Freedom

Holding a soirée that combines music and literature is essential for both education and artistic expression. It is a type of event that provides a platform for creative and interdisciplinary expression, promoting communication skills and cultural appreciation. In this poetic soiree we will have the participation of Cicinho de Assis, Mariana Guimarães, Felipe Guedes, Aiace, Juliana Ribeiro, Ana Barroso among other voices present in the room. The proposal also includes the launch of the book by the poet and singer Maviael Melo

The soirée will be on April 9th, from 7pm to 8:30pm.


Words in colors: Illustration for children’s books

The workshop will feature a theoretical introduction to children’s illustration. Fundamental design principles, the importance of visual storytelling, and specific nuances when designing for a young audience will be discussed. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about contemporary references, understanding how illustration contributes to the development of a book’s narrative and will be able to explore a variety of styles by developing their skills through practical exercises.

This workshop takes place on April 13th, from 2pm to 4pm.


Workshop: Body and Nature

Dance workshop based on the understanding that with the advent of colonization and the Cartesian system of thought, there was a split between our bodies (nature) and mind, making it difficult for us to connect with ourselves and the nature that surrounds us. During the workshop, participants will be invited to explore body movements inspired by these dances, allowing for a unique sensory experience that transcends cultural and temporal barriers.

The workshop will be on April 14th, from 2pm to 4pm.


Show: Boquinha and that’s how the world came to be

The play tells the story of little João Vicente, a character who faces the following question: “How did the world come to be?”. On a journey through his room and his grandfather’s notes, João comes across magical friends who help him think about the multiple possibilities of answers to the question. The show earned Ridson Reis a nomination for the 2023 Braskem Theater Award, in the Best Actor Category. In addition to being nominated, in the same award, in the Special Category for the scenario. With text by Lázaro Ramos, the play promotes the encounter of little João Vicente, the central character of the plot, with the different perspectives of the emergence of the world

The play takes place on April 13th and 14th, from 3pm to 4:30pm.


Original Paths: Decolonial Art

By addressing the work of Yacunã Tuxá, the activity highlights not only artistic expression, but also the importance of urgent social issues, such as indigenous causes, the fight against racism, land demarcation and the defense of LGBTQIAPN+ rights. This meeting proposes an in-depth reflection on the impacts of colonialism on the culture and identity of original peoples, highlighting the importance of recognizing and valuing ancestral traditions and knowledge.

The meeting will be April 17th, from 7pm to 8:30pm.


Literature that sings and enchants

The proposal consists of a chat with Marcos Cajé, Emillie Lapa and Natalyne Santos, covering the production of black literature for children and young people and the musical composition for the books. The objective is to give those present the opportunity not only to get to know behind the scenes of artistic creation, but also to become actively involved in promoting diversity and representation. The proposal aims not only to publicize the works, but also to strengthen the Afro-Brazilian literary scene and challenge stereotypes, contributing to black representation.

The meeting will be April 20th, from 4pm to 5:30pm.


Dance: K-pop Cover

K-pop Cover is a form of performance in which K-pop fans, usually outside of South Korea, recreate and perform popular K-pop groups’ choreography and songs. K-pop Cover offers fans the opportunity to express their creativity through dancing, singing and performing. The practice of learning and performing complex choreography helps develop coordination, flexibility, endurance and teamwork skills.

The activity will be April 21st, from 2pm to 4pm.


Creation of games for teaching Libras

Didactic games are fundamental in teaching Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS), offering an interactive and engaging approach. They facilitate learning vocabulary, grammar and facial expressions in a practical way, promoting knowledge retention. Furthermore, games encourage communication, cooperation and cultural understanding, making LIBRAS teaching more inclusive and accessible to different audiences. In this workshop, participants will be able to create a prototype of a game so that they can take it as a record of the experience and multiplication of the idea.

The workshop takes place on April 27th, from 2pm to 5pm.


Show: The Baron in the Trees

“The Baron in the Trees” tells in a playful and poetic way the story of Cosme Chuvasco de Rondó, son of nobles, who at the age of 12 decides to climb trees and never come down again, becoming a great defender of nature and the environment. Mixing theater, music and storytelling to narrate the Baron’s adventures, the adaptation of Ítalo Calvino’s work brings elements that in the past were close to the children’s universe and today have become almost unknown: the games and manifestations of northeastern popular culture.

The show takes place on April 27th, from 11am to 12pm and from 3pm to 4pm.


Timeless and ancestral look: Photography workshop

Photography is a powerful tool for capturing moments, preserving memories and exploring our connection to ancestry. In this workshop dedicated to beginners, the basic principles of photography will be covered, highlighting the versatility of equipment, with an emphasis on the use of smartphones, thus democratizing access to visual expression.

The workshop will be on April 28th, from 2pm to 5pm.


From Covert to Desired

Based on technical exercises, the class proposes structuring movement based on the relationship with space, time, music and the other person dancing, generating choreographic situations that exalt the strength of dancing together and the beauty of the body . The meeting takes place with live music, where musician Paulo Roberto Pitta establishes a dynamic intersection between dance and music, offering new perspectives for the participants.

The workshop will be April 28th, from 2pm to 5pm.


With the exception of the Poetic Soiree, all activities described in the program require prior registration.
