The Parish Council of Assunção, Ajuda, Salvador and Santo Ildefonso recently completed the work it carried out to build a car park on Rua Aqueduto da Amoreira, in Quinta dos Arcos, in Elvas.
This, however, as explained by the president of the board, Joaquim Amante, was only the first part of the intervention, given the number of people who live in that area of the city and the lack of parking there is. “We thought of this solution to respond to the lack of parking. That area where we built the parking lot was on dirt and didn’t have a very dignified appearance, next to the houses,” he says.
The project, when completed, says the president of the board, will have, in addition to more parking areas, a garden space. Taking into account the costs in terms of maintaining a garden, the space to be created on that street will consist of “vases and benches”.
Joaquim Amante also remembers that the intention is to use all the space belonging to the City Council to respond to the lack of parking, especially because “not all buildings have garages”.
