Madonna in Rio for show in Copacabana

Madonna’s arrival in Rio took fans to the front of the Copacabana Palace Hotel, where the queen of pop is staying with her daughters and entourage.

The queen of pop arrived this Monday morning (29) for a performance at Copacabana Beach, next Saturday (4). The show is free and is expected to attract more than 1.5 million people.

Sandro Assunção, born in Belém and living in Rio for 11 years, says he will fulfill his dream of seeing Madonna for the first time. He will welcome friends from other states to watch the show.

“My dream was to see three shows in my life: Elvis, Michael Jackson and Madonna. And hers, thank God I will be able to do it. I am anxious.”

Translator Priscila Harrison lives in Copacabana and attended the first show in 1993. She came to Copacabana Palace just to try to see the singer, as she does not intend to attend the show because of the expected crowd.

“As the show will be very crowded and I won’t be able to see her, I’m hoping I can see her [no hotel], take a peek. I’ve been a fan of Madonna since forever. I am 50 years old. At 15, I received a CD from her as a gift.”

Brazilian Hermes Suzuki has lived in Japan for 7 years. He came to Brazil just for the show. A card-carrying fan, he has already attended more than 30 shows and has just seen the tour in Mexico.

“I landed with her, the biggest coincidence. That opportunity does not exist. More than 1.5 million people expected. I’m grateful to have been born into Madonna’s generation, because she dares, so she’s always in the future.”

Event producer Mozart Ferre didn’t hesitate when he found out that the singer would be in Brazil and came from Paulista, in Pernambuco, to Rio. To pay for his stay in the city, he produced shirts with the pop diva’s face.

“I designed the shirts. The sale is being a success. I came to the last show at Maracanã, I paid and I would pay again if this one wasn’t free. She is an inspiration to me with her song lyrics and her performance. The show is a super production. Whoever can, come!”
