Finnish musician Ville Valo, lead singer and leader of the late Gothic Rock band HIM, gave an interview to Metal Hammer in 2004. During the chat, which was originally published in 2004 and published on the aforementioned magazine’s website on May 4, Ville spoke about a picturesque episode.

The strange tour took place in a small hotel in Luxembourg, a small country located in Western Europe, which borders Belgium, Germany and France. Linde Lindström, HIM’s guitarist, took a few too many reeds and ended up having a hard time (as all good drunks do).
“It’s a small country. They only have one big hotel and, to get a gold record there, you only need to sell 500 copies. That already says something about the country”, said Ville, who gave more details about the drunkenness of your comrade.
“Linde was sitting at the bar after a show and was completely drunk, as he always did. He didn’t have the energy to go to the bathroom to relieve himself, so he went to piss in the corner of the bar. The staff said they would kick him out if he didn’t clean up , then he wiped it away, still shaking.”

As if he wasn’t drunk enough, Linde decided to take a few more drinks, which caused problems.
“After that he still had no interest in going to the bathroom, so he pissed in two empty beer glasses. He really liked drinking [uísque] Jack Daniel’s, and drank a huge glass of Jack in one gulp (…). He felt like he needed to vomit,” said the HIM frontman.
The brave (and hard-drinking) guitarist didn’t go to the bathroom to vomit. He made a disgusting decision.
“In order not to vomit, he decided that he would put something else in the glass to keep everything in place. So he looked at all the beer glasses on the table and chose the one that contained his own piss. To drink, he took another glass with his own piss. Then he tried to vomit somewhere, but ended up vomiting in the elevator,” said Ville. As you might have imagined, Linde’s idea didn’t go over well with the hotel staff.

“So, he was expelled and, first thing in the morning, we had to leave the country. So now he can do shows in Luxembourg, but we will never be able to spend the night in the country again!”, concluded the singer and songwriter.
HIM ended its activities in 2017. Ville Valo began a solo career a few years later and his first album is “Neon Noir”, released in 2023.
