“I saw on this tour how much Him influenced some people and how important he was to them. It’s captivating, because I’m a fan and there are many artists who mean a lot to me”, recalled Ville.

“Meeting people like this, who had HIM as their soundtrack, is incredible and it actually makes me sad. I called Mige [Mikko Paananen], Him’s bassist, and said: ‘I’m sad that you’re not here with us. I hadn’t realized how much the band meant to some people and it was good to hear. It’s a little surreal playing these songs that I maybe wrote 30 years ago and seeing people cry in the audience – happy crying, I hope,” the frontman added.

Formed in the early 1990s, HIM became famous for their unique sound, which features elements of Gothic Rock, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. The sound mix became known as Love Metal, because of the lyrics of HIM’s songs, which talk about love and romanticism.

Ville Valo’s first solo work is “Neon Noir”, released in January 2023.
