Richie Sambora demonstrated his desire to return to play with Bon Jovi in a recent interview with the podcast “The Allison Hagendorf Show”. During the conversation, which was posted yesterday (6) on YouTube, the guitarist states that he would “without a doubt” return to the band, under one condition: Jon Bon Jovi’s recovery.
The vocalist revealed this year that he underwent recent reconstructive surgery on his vocal cords, requiring a plastic implant to be placed in them. At the time, the Bon Jovi frontman stated that he would only return to the stage if he is 100% recovered. “My health has been the first and most important topic of discussion, but I’m on the road to recovery. If I can’t be great, I’m out,” he said.
In the podcast, Sambora explained that he maintains contact with the other members of the band, only casually, because “there are still disagreements” about his departure from the group, but that he went to Jon’s house and talked to him about the surgical procedure. The musician also admitted that he knew how much it would mean to fans to see them on stage together again.
“The fans would love it. It has nothing to do with the financial part”, explained the guitarist. “But, as Jon himself said, he is having problems with his voice and now he has had this operation, in which he placed a plastic implant in the larynx, and it is something uncertain, in best case scenario. I don’t know if there is anyone who has had success with this procedure.
“I went to his house and we talked about it. I asked, ‘What’s this going to be like? What’s going on?’ I mean, physiologically, it doesn’t seem possible for your brain to teach this plastic implant how to work. It’s like you have to relearn how to use your voice in a way. Like I said before, this is the first time I’ve heard of this procedure.” , continued.
“If he recovers [sua voz], I’ll play again. I have songs. I swear to god. Really. I told everyone that I would definitely come back. The world needs this… we need hope,” Sambora added.
