Presentation scheduled for October 5th had sales suspended this Thursday morning (9), after Mayor Eduardo Paes did not authorize the event to be held on the eve of the election

The producer Live Nation suspended sales for the extra show Bruno Mars, scheduled in the city for October 5th. The suspension comes one day after the announcement and the reaction of the city council, which did not authorize the event, scheduled for the day before the elections, scheduled for October 6th.

The mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paesused the X to speak on Wednesday night (8): “Imagine that any major event will be held in Rio de Janeiro (I would even say in Brazil) on the eve of the elections [o primeiro turno será no dia 06] It is absurd due to the need to mobilize a large number of public agents. We informed this to the production of the artist Bruno Mars’ show on the same day as the October 4th date was announced. They still sold tickets anyway.”

“Rio de Janeiro city hall has not and will not give authorization for the aforementioned show during election week,” declared Paes.

This Thursday morning (9), Live Nation also used X to comment on the likely change of date for the extra performance in the city, reinforcing its commitment to working with the mayor’s office:

“We will work closely with the mayor’s office to find a solution for fans. All pre-sale and sale information will be released soon along with updates on event dates,” the producer published.

Eduardo Paes commented on the publication, stating that Rio de Janeiro “is no man’s land” and quoting Bruno Mars himself:

“They’re starting to understand. There’s respect for citizens and the electoral process here. And there’s command too. It’s no man’s land. I’m sure that @BrunoMars will come to Rio to the delight of his many fans. Only at the right time!”

So far, the only information about a new date for Bruno Mars’ extra show in Rio de Janeiro is that pre-sales and sales will be postponed. The remaining presentations in the country, as well as ticket sales for the extra shows announced this Wednesday (8), are maintained.
