UAn opinion requested by the National Union of Banking Staff and Technicians (SNQTB) considers that the appropriation by the bank of the difference between the pension updates made by Social Security and those proposed by the banks is illegal.
The news, it should be noted, was reported by Jornal Económico and, in a statement, SNQTB explained the following:
“The pension bonus paid by Social Security, as a reward for months or years of contributions registered beyond the legal or personal retirement age, must revert in full to the bank retiree, not being subject to any deduction by credit institutions“, it can be read.
SNQTB ensures that this information is supported “by a legal opinion from a renowned constitutionalist that the union took care to obtain”.
The union accuses banks of appropriating the difference between pension updates made by the State and those negotiated with the financial sector.
“Pension updates, supported by Social Security or CGA, must comply with the same previous rules, as well as the proportionality rule itself, and cannot, under any circumstances, revert entirely to the Banks”, can be read in the same note.
The SNQTB present, Paulo Marcos, said, in statements to Jornal Económico, that the banks “are carrying out illicit enrichment, since they did not contribute anything to it”.
