Smartphone manufacturers are not, by any means, the biggest fans on earth when it comes to increasing the base storage on their devices, whether in the Android ecosystem or in Apple’s iOS ecosystem. Because, of course, they prefer to sell storage packages in the “cloud”, where they can collect money more often, over long periods of time.

But, if Google really wants to have a serious impact on the market, especially now that it is betting big and badly on its range of Pixel products. You have to change the paradigm!

Google has to get rid of 128GB on Android!

This is the Pixel 9 Pro XL!

Therefore, the base versions of the Pixel 8 arrived on the market with just 128GB of internal storage capacity, with no expansion capacity via microSD card. Something that may still seem sufficient in 2024, but it is a storage capacity, which in the long term… Well… It doesn’t make much sense!

Therefore, now that Google seems to want to invest a little more in the technical specifications of its smartphones, and it seems that it will even launch a Pixel 9 Pro XL in addition to a Pixel 9 Pro.

It is apparent that the technology giant can never launch Pro models with 128GB of storage!

It even starts to seem strange! Because several rumors point to the presence of 16GB of RAM in the new Pixel 9 Pro. However, this same version appears in the benchmark with 128GB of internal storage.

Did Google increase the RAM to a very decent 16GB, and then leave the storage at 128GB?

Google… What do you mean!?

A top of the range in 2024, especially a Pixel that hits shelves in October, cannot have 128GB of internal storage capacity! It ends up being something that smacks of strategy. In other words, Google wants to offer less storage capacity, and then push users towards the Google One subscription. It’s not correct! No matter how good the subscription is (which it is!).
