By the end of the year, Amâncio Ortega will receive a total of 2,845 million euros. The owner of Zara holds more than 59% of the textile group’s capital.

The founder of Zara is preparing to receive 1.423 million euros in dividends from the Inditex group this week. The accounts are from “El Economista” and refer to the textile group’s first payment to shareholders relating to last year’s results.

The world leader in retail clothing sales ended the year 2023 with a total of 5,381 million euros in profit, the highest value ever achieved by the company. In this way, the owner of Zara, led by Marta Ortega (daughter of the founder), saw profits increase by 30.3%, while sales reached 35,947 million euros and almost nine billion in turnover.

However, this is not the first milestone for the retailer leader. In 2023, Marta Ortega achieved something never achieved by her father: she surpassed four billion in profit. In 2023, according to the financial report, it surpassed itself again.

With results never seen before, Inditex announced the distribution of profits in the amount of 4.8 billion euros. One payout of 60% in relation to the results achieved in 2023, and shareholders will still receive an extraordinary dividend payment.

This Thursday, May 2nd, Inditex will pay 0.77 euros per title, paying the same amount on November 4th, in the case of the extraordinary dividend. So, in total, the owner of Zara will pay 1.54 euros per share. Now, Amâncio Ortega is the owner of 1.848 million shares of the company he founded, corresponding to 59.294% of the capital.

At the end of the year, Ortega will receive another 1,423 million euros, to make up the 2,845 million euros he has money for. This represents an increase of 628 million euros compared to the amount received last year. As he is also a company administrator, he was still able to obtain plus 100 thousand euros for the 2023 results.

Sandra Ortega, daughter and second largest shareholder of the group (5.1% of shares – 157.5 million shares), is preparing to receive 243 million euros. Of this total amount, 121 million will arrive this Thursday.

The politician and president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, owns four thousand Inditex shares and will also receive payment of dividends, and is expected to receive 6,160 euros by the end of the year.

Inditex’s non-executive president, Marta Ortega, is not expected to receive the payout, but the remuneration report submitted to the National Securities Market Commission (CNVM) shows that he received a salary of one million euros for the second year at the head of the group. Between 2022 and 2023, Ortega received 834 thousand euros.

The CEO of Inditex, Óscar García Maceiras, received 10.32 million euros last year, 23.3% more than in 2022. It is known that 2.79 million euros corresponded to the gross profit from the shares.
