“Saturday” advances that the previous governor of Pedro Passos Coelho’s Executive and leader of the CDS-PP will have already been invited to the position and is preparing to replace Ana Jorge who was dismissed this Monday.

Pedro Mota Soares, former Minister of Solidarity, Labor and Social Security, is the name chosen by the Government to take on the role of provider of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML) after the dismissal of Ana Jorge, a decision made this week.

The news is reported by “Sábado”, a publication that states that the Government should actually move forward with this solution this week and thus begin the transition process in the leadership of Santa Casa after the dismissal of the previous administration.

“Saturday” advances that the previous governor of Pedro Passos Coelho’s Executive and leader of the CDS-PP had already been invited by the Government but refused any comment on the topic when contacted by the Cofina group’s publication.

The administration of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa was dismissed “with immediate effect”, the Government announced this Monday, justifying the decision because the team “revealed to be incapable of facing the institution’s serious financial and operational problems”.

“The Government has decided to dismiss, with immediate effect, all members of the Board of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa [SCML]thanking them for their availability to perform functions in such an important institution”, said the Government in a statement, released today by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

The SCML was currently headed by the former socialist Minister of Health Ana Jorge, who served as ombudsman for around a year, with the remaining SCML Board made up of a deputy ombudsman and four members.

“Unfortunately, this decision became inevitable because the Board, now outgoing, proved incapable of facing the institution’s serious financial and operational problems, which could in the short term compromise the fundamental task of social action that it is responsible for”, he explained. the executive.
