Apple presents iPad Pro equipped with the new M4 processor starting at 1,229 euros – Computers

Directly from Cupertino, from Apple Park, Tim Cook confirmed that it was a day dedicated to the iPad. But first an evaluation of the Apple Vision Pro launched in February, highlighting the various initiatives around the equipment, such as Porsche creating a virtual showroom. Or the use by doctors for consultations and even the film Wicked which will use the headset to create a personal cinema room.

Regarding the iPad, Tim Cook highlights the use of tablets, whether for the creativity of musicians and artists or for playing video games thanks to the Apple Silicon processor. O The iPad lineup became more complete today with the announcements of the Pro and Air models.

John Ternus highlighted the iPad Air, which has top features, but at a more affordable price, mainly aimed at students, but also for those who like to consume video content or play games. The new iPad Air introduces two sizes for the first time (11 and 13 inches), with Retina Display, ideal for taking notes or drawing.

The new 13-inch model is similar to the Pro, allowing users to have more space to work and use different applications in multi tasking. It has a front camera, with AI support to help center subjects in the center. The larger model has spatial sound and deeper bass. It is available in four colors. O tablet is powered by the M2 processor, promising to be 50% faster than the previous model and three times more performance. New games like Assassin’s Creed Mirage are compatible with this model. The photo application is helped by AI, which improves the image with just one touch. It will launch with the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil.

You two models have 128 GB of internal storage up to 1 TB. Prices start at 729 euros for the 11-inch version and 979 euros for the 13-inch version. Pre-orders begin today, with a launch on May 15th.

Regarding the iPad Pro, the tablet is aimed at content creators and professionals, offering the best screens and processors from the Apple brand. The tablet has a new design, being thinner. Apple says it always envisioned the iPad as a sheet of glass, being 5.1mm thick, with two sizes, an 11-inch model and the top of the range 13-inch model. Available in black and aluminum grey, the models feature a new screen, introducing OLED technology for the first time.

The company developed two OLED screens together, which it called Tandem OLED, capable of offering 1,000 nits of brightness and a peak of 1,600 nits. The XDR Precision system promises deeper blacks and greater shadow detail, even in low lighting. Apple calls the new system Ultra Retina XDR. A Apple promises to offer a cinematic environment on the equipment. Users can opt for a screen with a nano-glass system, to reduce reflections, for those who need to work outside.

O new design forced us to create the next technological step, introducing the M4 processor. In other words, the iPad Pro jumps from the M2 to the M4, equipped with a 3 nm processor, designed to be thin. The M4 promises greater performance, based on the next generation of M3 architecture, with 4 performance cores. It features 4 times more performance than the M2 and introduces Ray Tracing technology for games. Despite increasing capacity, this processor reduces consumption. It also has a dedicated AI chip, an NPU, with 16 cores, processing 38 billion calculations per second. A Apple says that combining the M4 processor and the NPU makes it the most powerful device of its kind. The equipment uses graphite for cooling, promising to be four times faster than the previous generation of iPad.

Popular Apple applications like Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro 2 have been updated and built from the ground up with a touch interface. It promises to double the performance capacity compared to the previous version. O Final Cut Camera system allows you to bring together several iPhone smartphones to create multi-camera scenes, making it easier to synchronize the respective videos later in the project. Users can drag color effects directly to the editing timeline. Logic Pro 2 received a similar treatment, facilitating controls and supporting more instruments, transforming the iPad into a walking recording studio.

The iPad Pro also features 12 MP cameras on the main lens and four studio-quality microphones. The new flash system detects documents, adapting the intensity, so you can make photocopies of the text. The camera is now in the horizontal center of the iPad for panoramic use. And at the top is a magnet for the Apple Pencil. The Magic Keyboard was also redesigned for the new tablet, transforming it into a laptop. It has direct controls for lighting and a TrackPad with better user response.

The Apple Pencil has also been rebuilt in the new model. The Pencil Pro promises to become an authentic drawing pencil, with “magical” capabilities. It has new interactions, like pressing the pencil to start a new palette of options. And you can rotate the pencil to easily switch between a pencil and a brush, for example. It has haptic feedback for these interactions, helping the user to create in an even more detailed way. Apple says the new digital pen offers 50% more capacity compared to the previous model. It can be charged when placed against the iPad Pro and is also compatible with the iPad Air.

O The 11-inch iPad Pro costs 1,229 euros and the 13-inch costs 1,579 euros. The Apple Pencil Pro costs 149 euros and the Apple Pencil costs 89 euros. All equipment arrives on May 15th, but can be pre-ordered today.

In preview

Apple is expected to revamp the iPad Pro lines for OLED screens and the Air models will feature a new display size, as previously suggested. The first indicators that Apple might refresh its tablets came in March, when Bloomberg reported the increase in components to be manufactured by suppliers, pointing to the launch in May.

Parallel to the new event, Apple has scheduled the annual Worldwide Developers Conference for the week of June 10th to 14th. This event could reveal the plans of the company led by Tim Cook with regard to artificial intelligence. It seems, the technology company will be working with four AI models to prepare the new features driven by generative AI that it wants to integrate into the next version of the iPhone operating system.
