Carlos Moedas, president of Lisbon City Council and former European commissioner, will be the national representative of the candidacy of the Democratic Alliance (AD), headed by Sebastião Bugalho, for the European elections. The representative for youth will be one of the newest PSD deputies in Parliament, Ana Gabriela Cabilhas.

The information was released by AD in a statement sent to the newsrooms this Thursday, which states that Carlos Moedas and Ana Gabriela Cabilhas will intervene in the presentation of the electoral program of the coalition between the PSD, the CDS and the PPM for the June 9 elections. , before Sebastião Bugalho.

Carlos Moedas is the current president of the Lisbon municipality, a position he has held since 2021, and was previously European commissioner for research, innovation and science between 2014 and 2019. Before that, he was assistant secretary of state to Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho, from 2011 to 2014, and deputy in the Assembly of the Republic.

In his first speech as a candidate for the European Championships, Sebastião Bugalho made a reference to him, remembering him as one of the several PSD figures who benefited from the “European dream”: “It was like that with a young man from Alentejo from Beja, who went to Paris to study Thanks to the Erasmus program, he became an engineer and returned to his country, later to become European Commissioner and Mayor”, he stated at the time.

Ana Gabriela Cabilhas, on whom the PSD relied to speak at the solemn session commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April in Parliament, is the second youngest deputy of the social democrats parliamentary group, at 27 years old.

At the time, he gave a speech focused on calling for the fight against “extremism”, calling for “tolerance and dialogue”, the “holding of public office holders accountable” or for giving way to new generations and women in politics. She is a nutritionist and coordinator of the PSD’s National Strategic Council for longevity and well-being.
