Sporting announced this Sunday that the handball team’s goalkeeper, Manuel Gaspar, will transfer to HBC Nantes “with immediate effect”.

«After a first offer was rejected, the club was sensitive to the athlete’s appeal – who adopted, throughout the process, a dignified and correct posture – to play in one of the most competitive leagues in the world», reads in the statement from the lions.

Manuel Gaspar, 24 years old, has been at Sporting for nine seasons and has been the substitute for the leonine networks. The AA international on 16 occasions, this season adds up to 21 games and now moves to the French runner-up, heading to one of the best championships in the world.

At Nantes, Manuel Gaspar will meet compatriots Pedro Portela and Alexandre Cavalcanti and will compete in the Champions League.
