It was reported yesterday that Ricardo Esgaio was packed from Alvalade to Saudi Arabia. However, what Record managed to determine, this is not a scenario that is currently on the table of the 30-year-old right winger, who will only completely define the next step, between staying or leaving, at the end of the season.
Hired from Sp. Braga in 2021, for 5.5 million euros, Esgaio was an express request from Rúben Amorim, who thus allowed him to return to the club where he spent most of his training. At the time, he signed until 2026, with a release clause of 45 million euros, so he has two years left on his contract in green and white. Despite having lost the starting spot to Geny Catamo, in addition to competition from Fresneda, the experienced defender has played 43 games, one more than a lion on his chest (in 2021/22), and has 3 assists.
