In a crazy game, Manchester United beat Liverpool (4-3, after extra time) and is in the FA Cup semi-finals. With Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot in the eleven, the Red Devils took the lead through McTominay (10′). Before the break, the Reds scored two goals in three minutes! MacAllister (44′) equalized with a beautiful shot from the edge of the area and Salah (45’+1) put the team ahead after an incomplete save from Onana. In the 2nd half, Liverpool were always closer to third but, at the end of the day, Antony (87′) equalized.

In extra time, Elliot (105′) put the Reds ahead again thanks to a shot deflected by the opposing defender. However, the Red Devils equalized, once again, after McTominay put Rashford (112′) in front of goal. When everyone thought that the tie would be decided on penalties, Diallo (120’+1) scored the winning goal after a counterattack started by Garnacho. The 21-year-old took off his shirt during the celebrations and received a second yellow card.

“This season hasn’t been at the level we want, but we want to improve. We’ve always said that our goal was to be in the top 4 and try to win the FA Cup, we’re going to do everything we can towards those goals. The FA Cup is a big trophy for this club”, said Bruno Fernandes. Jürgen Klopp highlighted the attitude of Liverpool players. “The boys once again demonstrated incredible character. We will deal well with this result”, stressed the German.

In the next phase, the Red Devils will face 2nd tier Coventry, on April 20th.

Chelsea gets a scare

Chelsea are in the FA Cup semi-finals after beating Leicester (4-2). The blues started on the right foot and Cucurella (13′) opened the scoring. Before the break, Sterling missed a penalty (26′), but made amends by assisting Palmer (45’+1). The 2nd tier team, which was without the injured Ricardo Pereira, came from behind and pulled one back after Disasi (51′) scored in his own goal. Leicester galvanized and even equalized thanks to Mavididi (60′). After Doyle’s expulsion (73′), Chelsea dominated again and Chukwuemeka (90’+2) put the team ahead. There was still time for Madueke (90’+8) to expand the result.

Pochettino’s team will meet Manchester City in the semi-finals of the competition, on April 20th.
