Frida Maanum, an Arsenal women’s player, was taken off on a stretcher after falling lifeless on the field, against Chelsea, this Sunday. The 24-year-old started for the Gunners in the Conti Cup final, which is being played at Wolves’ home ground at Molineux, and the game was suddenly stopped in stoppage time.
In the final moments of the final, with the score at 0-0, there was concern throughout the venue when Maanum fell without competing for the ball.
His Arsenal teammate Katie McCabe immediately requested medical assistance and Maanum was taken off on a stretcher in a worrying scenario. It is not known for sure what the nature of Maanum’s problem is, as the broadcasters did not go into detail on the matter.
Arsenal later posted on their official X account: “Frida is conscious, speaking and in a stable condition. She will continue to be closely monitored by our medical team. We are all with you, Frida.”
There was a huge round of applause from the fans when Maanum was taken off on a stretcher, with Alessia Russo coming in to replace her. Several figures in women’s football sent messages of strength to the player.
