The PSP has been identifying, in recent days, the most problematic Porto fans, many of whom are linked to the Super Dragões fan base, and will monitor them throughout the election, scheduled for tomorrow. The surveillance will be carried out by a police force reinforced by agents from all areas of the PSP, but will not take place inside the Estádio do Dragão, where the voting boxes will be located.

According to JN, the PSP will only enter this space at the request of the president of the Board of the General Assembly of FC Porto, Lourenço Pinto, or if requested by an associate who is the victim of a public crime and who could endanger the regular functioning. of the elections. But, if called upon, various sources assure JN, the PSP will be prepared to respond quickly using the more than one hundred women and men who, in uniform and in civilian clothes, will be part of the workforce planned for the event. Among these will be agents from the Special Police Unit, who will concentrate in the vicinity of the stadium.

The PSP, mainly through spotters (police specialized in security at sporting events), will also be particularly attentive to reactions to the results of the election. At this moment, it is feared, above all, that there will be aggressive behavior on the part of ultra fans to the eventual defeat of current president Pinto da Costa. The locations planned by the two candidates for the festivities will, therefore, be controlled by a reinforced device.

In an interview with DN, the commander of Porto’s PSP, Neto Gouveia, stated that he did not want a “policed process”, but guaranteed “enough police so that there would not be any type of problem” in the elections.
