Futsal: Sporting wins and guarantees 1st place, Benfica beats Sp. Braga

Sporting hosted and beat Fundão 2-1, this Friday, at Pavilhão João Rocha, in the 22nd and final round of the first phase of the Futsal League.

The lions scored through Hugo Neves (5m) and Diogo Santos (19m). Pedro Marques scored the visitors’ goal (31m).

In the big game of the day, at the same time, in the late afternoon, Benfica beat Sporting de Braga 7-1.

Jacaré (2m), an own goal from Dudu (12m), a hat-trick from Edmilson Kutchy (26m, 34m, 36m) and two goals from Gonçalo Sobral (38m, 39m) earned the Reds the victory. Bruno Soares (9m) scored the goal for Braga.

In a round where, in the first three, the order could only be changed between Sporting and Sp. Braga, the lions secured first place, closing the first phase with 59 points. Sp. Braga finishes 2nd with 54 points and Benfica, which already had 3rd place confirmed at the start of the day, ends with 51 points.

On Saturday, the remaining four games of the day will take place: Quinta dos Lombos-Torreense, Belenenses-Ferreira do Zêzere, Candoso-Leões de Porto Salvo and Caxinas-Eléctrico. At stake is the dispute between Torreense, Quinta dos Lombos and Eléctrico for two places in the play-off that decides the champion. Belenenses and Fundão have already dropped down from the division and Fundão guaranteed maintenance, but will not go to the play-offs.
