The official theme of the Paris 2024 Games was revealed this Wednesday. Entitled “Parade”, the composition by musical director Victor le Masne, which combines symphonic and electronic sounds, was performed live by the Marseille Orchestra, at the Palais du Pharo, at the Olympic torch arrival ceremony.
The instrumental theme will be present throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games, from the arrival of the torch in Marseille, to the competition venues, incorporating the dynamic and universal spirit of the biggest sporting event on the planet. The music recorded by the Orquestra National de France and Chœur et Maitrise de Radio France will also feature different versions and rhythms, according to each stage.
The French artist chosen as composer of the official theme and musical director of the ceremonies, Victor le Masne, said he was honored to be able to be part of the history of the Games and perpetuate its music:
– I am excited to contribute to the unforgettable experience of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. I wanted to create an original soundtrack that would not only accompany the most memorable moments of these historic Games, but that would also be engraved in the memory of all generations – he said.
Le Masne was responsible for the reinterpretation of “Marseillaise” accompanied by the French National Orchestra, at the ceremony of passing the host city of the Games, between Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. Furthermore, the Frenchman is working in partnership with Thomas Jolly on the compositions for the four opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics and Paralympics, which will also be based on the theme song.
