The BPI League champion will only be known in the last round. In this 21st and penultimate round of the competition, Benfica and Sporting triumphed away from home, against Valadares-Gaia (0-1) and Ouriense (0-3), respectively, and remain separated by two points, with the eagles in the lead . In the final round, next weekend, the Reds will host Racing Power, while the Lionesses will go to Damaiense. With this scenario, Benfica only depends on themselves and knows that if they win they will be four-time champions, regardless of their rival’s result. Sporting always needs to win and hope that the Reds lose or even draw. In this last scenario, the two teams would end up with 54 points but the green and white team, with an advantage in direct confrontation (they won both derbies), would be champions.
After Benfica’s victory over Valadares-GaiaIn the morning, Sporting responded and prevented their rivals from celebrating the title today. Goals from Olivia Smith (27′), Joana Martins (32′) and Ana Capeta (35′) built the 3-0 victory at Ouriense.
