Benfica and Sporting won today and postponed the decision on the women’s football title until next weekend, with the two teams separated by two points heading into the final round of the championship.

Three-time champions Benfica, who lead the competition with 53 points, secured an important victory on their visit to Valadares Gaia (1-0), in a difficult game on synthetic terrain and on a very rainy day, but resolved with a goal from Chandra Davidson (44 minutes ).

Sporting entered the field after finishing the Benfica game and the ‘liones’ fulfilled what was expected, with a quiet victory at Atlético Ouriense (3-0), with goals from Olívia Smith (27 minutes), Joana Martins (32 ) and Ana Capeta (35).

In the 22nd and final round, Benfica only needs to achieve the same result as Sporting to secure their fourth national championship.

The ‘red’ team receives Racing Power, third placed, in the last game, while Sporting visits Damaiense, fourth.

A scenario of equal equality, which could happen if Sporting wins and Benfica draws, will give the Lionesses the title, due to the fact that, in the direct confrontation in the League, they won both games, both by 3-1.
