First defeat of the year for Portugal, after victory in the Under-15 Development Tournament, last March. When welcoming Poland, the Quinas team even took the lead, but were unable to maintain their level in the second 45′, ending up losing 1-3 to their Central European counterpart.

In a first half marked by balance between the teams, Portugal was the only team capable of shaking the net. After several warnings left by several Portuguese players, Matilda Wadewitz even beat the opposition of Dominka Lemanczyk’s attempted spot following a move to exploit the depth of the Portuguese attack.

Until half-time, the score didn’t change again, even though Carolina Fernandes came very close to that goal, after a beautiful shot that only the Polish goal post managed to stop.

As the second half progressed, and without any opportunities appearing in large quantities, Poland was able to equalize, just before the 70th minute. Taking advantage of the confusion inside the Portuguese area and before the ceremony in relieving distance, Amelia Guzenda pushed the ball into the back of the goal, starting the growth of the Polish team from then on.

Unable to get out of their defensive third, Portugal found themselves cornered by outside pressure, having suffered a comeback shortly afterwards. After good infiltration inside the area, Sandra Piotrowska was not afraid when Leonor Serralheiro left the posts and made it 1-2.

Until the end, Portugal still tried to react, but Blanka Zajac gave the final blow to the national aspirations, after a defensive inattention from José Paisana’s pupils.
