Artur Jorge complains that the time until a decision broke the rhythm of the game

Botafogo, led by Artur Jorge, beat LDU de Quito, from Ecuador, 2-1, and still keeps its dream of qualifying for the round of 16 of the Libertadores alive.

The home team’s goals were scored by Hugo (31′) and Junior Santos (69′), while the visitors scored by Estrada (45+1).

The game was marked by a moment in which VAR took 10 minutes to analyze a move. LDU scored a goal in the 19th minute and, between VAR analysis and the referee’s call to see the images, it was only in the 29th minute that they made a decision and canceled it for offside.

The delay was due to the placement of the lines and also the debate between the referees until a conclusion was reached.

«The delay is also related to the difficulty in analyzing the bid and the tools used for the bid. We were exposed to what time is needed. In fact, it takes a long time to analyze the bid. It conditions, breaks the rhythm of the game. We had 15 minutes of great intensity, half of the game was fantastic. It was actually good, strong, intense, aimed at the goal. This moment ends up breaking that intensity… », he commented, at the end. Arthur Jorge.

Botafogo is now second in Group D, with six points after four rounds, and will also face the first team, Junior Barranquilla, in Colombia, as well as Universitario, in Peru.
