Who doesn’t know the famous Whatsapp? This popular application, used on both Android devices and iPhones, is developing a new feature: a tab dedicated exclusively to favorite contacts.
This functionality would allow users to access conversations with people marked as special with just one tap, making it easier to search for these specific conversations in the wide list of contacts.
Information about this test was revealed by a specialized international website, which released images of both the web version and the beta version for Apple devices.
Organizing Conversations Efficiently
The intention behind this new tab is to provide a more efficient way to organize conversations. Currently, WhatsApp offers tabs to view unread messages, active conversations, personal and professional dialogues, helping to separate personal and professional life.
With this new update, the organization of conversations promises to be even more detailed, highlighting the contacts that are a priority for the user.
As reported by WABetaInfo, it will be possible for the user to manually mark the conversations they wish to include as favorites, whether with a partner, close friends or important contacts. It is not yet clear whether there will be a limit on the number of favorite contacts or whether groups can also be marked as such.
Simplified navigation and improved search
The planned conversation tabs, if implemented, will be positioned at the top of the screen, both in the web and mobile versions, facilitating navigation between different chat categories in an intuitive way.
In the desktop version, the functionality to search for specific contact names within a selected tab stands out. For iOS users, this specific search functionality has not yet been confirmed in the released images.
This feature for organizing conversations on WhatsApp is still in the testing phase and there is no official confirmation about its launch to the general public, nor a forecast of when this might happen. Furthermore, it is possible that the feature will undergo adjustments before being made available to application users.
