Maserati MC20, the racing monster is already being tested

High performance continues to mark the Maserati spirit at a time when the brand is betting on its return to the world of competition with its entry into Formula E, and is preparing to take the hypercar into production MC20 that promises to offer the most extreme sensations in unofficial races.

Initially known as Project24, revealed last summer during Monterey Car Week 2023, the Maserati MC20 will go to the production line from which 62 units will come out which can all be different thanks to the special MCXlusiva customization program.

Until then, this track monster is in the testing phase until the end of April, with the brand announcing the delivery of the first example next summer. In a bolder shade of blue than the one it sported as a concept unveiled in Monterey, the MC20 proudly displays its aerodynamic profile across the entire line with the weight factor deserving maximum attention.

To keep it under 1,250 kg, it was designed with light materials but combined with powerful mechanics with the 3.0-liter twin-turbo Maserati Nettuno V6 engine that reaches 730 hp, resulting in an impressive power-to-weight ratio of around 1.69 kg/hp. All this associated with a six-speed sequential gearbox and limited-slip rear differential.

As a racing model, the MC20’s engine is mounted on an ultra-lightweight carbon fiber unibody chassis that promises radical driving even in private racing sessions.. This hypercar also features adjustable shock absorbers, Brembo brakes equipped with a custom cooling system or 1.5-inch forged aluminum wheels and slick tires (which are not permitted on the road).

Its price remains a mystery, but taking into account the exclusivity of the MC20 and the examples of other competing proposals, It will not be an exaggeration that each unit will exceed one million euros.
