The reason for this to happen is precisely its affordable price. To have a lower price, these models rely on older technology and less advanced specifications.
This means that they will become obsolete more quickly than the base variants of each series, for example. And this is an issue that users value.
According to the aforementioned website, consumers show some concern about the fact that an SE version of the iPhone is a bad investment. The reasons given for this concern are the lack of the latest technology in these types of models.
For the same reason, they prefer to make a larger investment, that is, pay more, to have access to more advanced specifications and technology that can last longer over time, taking longer to reach the obsolete level.
Possibly, it is also for this reason that, in recent years, the premium segment of the smartphone market has registered a growth trend, globally.
What’s expected in the iPhone SE 4
But even though it may be a model with rapid depreciation, the iPhone SE 4 will be subject to significant updates, compared to the previous model.
Firstly, it must be in line with the other models and now integrate a USB-C input and also an action button.
Rumor has it that the 4.7-inch LCD panel will also be replaced by a new 6.1-inch OLED screen.
Last but not least, this will be the first SE variant to feature Face ID, so it will unlock the phone using facial recognition.
With all these new features, an increase in its price is also expected. We don’t know if it will be as significant as the update of its specifications, but without a doubt it could be another factor of concern regarding its rapid depreciation.
