Apple is updating its list of devices considered obsolete and vintage, now including some older models from the iPhone and iPad line.

The company now considers the iPhone 6 Plus to be an obsolete device worldwide, which indicates that official Apple stores and resellers will no longer provide technical support for it. Remember that Apple considers a device to be obsolete after seven years have passed since the company stopped selling it.

The iPhone 6 Plus was launched in September 2014, and one of the highlights of this model is its larger screens and support for Apple Pay. Apple discontinued the iPhone 6 Plus in September 2016, although the iPhone 6 model remained at retailers for a few more months – which is why it has not yet appeared on the list.

At the software level, the iPhone 6 Plus lost support for new updates with iOS 13 in mid-2019.

As for the iPad, Apple now considers the iPad Mini 4 to be vintage, which occurs when more than five years have passed since the company stopped selling the device. Official Apple stores and resellers still provide support for these devices, although it is dependent on available parts.

This guarantees technical support for another two years for this model, before it also enters the list of obsolete devices.
