Motorola Edge 50 Ultra has colors and features leaked in videos

-

Awaited as Motorola’s next premium cell phone, the Edge 50 Ultra has leaked again, showing not only more details of the peculiar look adopted by the giant, but also the possible features that the brand is preparing. Apparently, the device should bring back features seen in the company’s latest “Ultra” model, including stereo sound and water resistance, as well as bringing improvements in color processing in photos and some type of greater resistance glass on the screen. .

Apparently part of the official promotional materials, the videos were released by the leaker Evan Blasswhich has an accurate history of leaks, and highlights the appearance of the Edge 50 Ultra.

As pointed out in the last leak, the device should follow the design line of the simpler “brother” Edge 50 Pro, but with refinements in areas such as the finish and cameras.

It is possible to see three color options: black, with fabric that imitates leather; Peach Fuzz, a peach tone defined as the Pantone color of the year, which uses frosted glass; and “Sisal”, a color close to beige with a finish that resembles wood.

A curious point is that sisal is a plant originating in Central America, similar to a small coconut tree, whose fibers are extracted to be used in the production of ropes, carpets and other decorative items.

There is still no way to say whether Motorola will actually use wood in the model, but it is interesting to remember that the brand did something similar in the Moto X era (2013).

There are a few more noticeable aspects in the videos, starting with the front and rear panels with very sharp curved edges, following what was adopted in previous generations. As indicated by the use of plastic lines, used to guarantee the passage of the signal from the antennas, the sides must be made of aluminum.

The screen should be one of the highlights, possibly employing an AMOLED panel with high refresh rates, as well as the stereo sound system, which should feature Dolby Atmos spatial audio technology.

The videos that attract the most attention involve the screen glass, color processing and the presence of water protection. Simulating some type of stone, the manufacturer suggests that the Edge 50 Ultra will feature a version of Gorilla Glass that is more resistant to scratches and impacts — the brand had confirmed that it will use Gorilla Glass in all of its 2024 launches.

The question that remains is related to which glass variant will be used. It wouldn’t be impossible for us to see Gorilla Armor, a solution used by Samsung in the Galaxy S24 Ultra, but considering that this solution was developed in partnership with the South Korean giant, it’s more likely that we’ll see Gorilla Glass Victus 2. In comparison, the Edge 30 Ultra, the last “Ultra” cell phone presented by Motorola, featured Gorilla Glass 5.

Finally, the videos released point to the use of improved color processing in the cameras, which may involve a partnership with Pantone in a similar way to what has been promised for the Edge 50 Pro, in addition to protection against water and dust. There is no mention of the degree of resistance, but it would be surprising if we saw the advanced IP68, prepared for submersion in liquids, considering its presence in the simpler Edge 40.

With its debut expected for this Wednesday, April 3, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra should target the premium smartphone segment, but bet on some curious cuts. The most striking change would be the use of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, a still powerful but simplified version of the traditional 8 Gen 3.

The presence of a periscope camera with 3x or 5x optical zoom and Android 14 running under the unprecedented Hello UI interface are also expected, along with a variety of AI features. Prices are unknown, but it is likely that we will see them being set close to US$999 (~R$5,025), the price charged by the company with the Edge 30 Ultra, which puts it on the same level as other high-performance cell phones.
